Between a Rock and a Hard Left and Right

What can an Objectivist do? An exile in his own land! Disenfranchised, hated and despised in equal measure by both Left and Right. Politically dispossessed. (Stop whining!)

If you excoriate the Left, the Right loves you -until you excoriate the Right for being cut from the same statist cloth. This they can neither understand  tolerate or forgive.

Why can't we unite against the Left a Right wing associate asks me imploringly? Yet ironically the guru which he to this day respects probably among all men used to say frequently that both the Left and Right despise me because I tell the latter what is wrong with them as much as the former.

It would be tempting? to go for popularity and swing behind the alt right but then, principles totally abandoned there would be nothing gained, any integrity would go out the window and one would be arguing for right wing collectivism to fight left wing collectivism.

So the wilderness years are set to continue at least while the present nitemare incumbent is in the Whitehouse but ultimately sticking to  consistently held principles will only strengthen one's position and when the culture completely collapses courtesy of the buffoonish Trump it will be the Objectivists who will hopefully pick up the shattered polity and steer a different course for tomorrow.

 Truly radical and revolutionary as opposed to the faux revolutionaries of today who are singing from the same sorry statist songbook Objectivism will only then come into its own. Or of course an even worse continuation of Trump will take the country into a full blown dictatorship - and bye bye America, probably forever.So there is everything to play for. This is what we stand for, this is what's worth fighting for.

The worse possible thing is to ally with the alt  Right Trumpists thinking they are the least of the two evils. That would spell death to the Objectivist movement and any chance whatsoever of turning things around. Some Objectivists alas have already done this which is deluded and misguided in the extreme and brings discredit on the movement. This is not some test of ideological purity but an undermining of the very roots and core principles of Objectivism.

This is tantamount to vegetarians saying we will reach more people if we accept into our ranks those who only consume meat 3 days a week. But what the Objectivists are doing getting in bed with the alt right is even worse than that - more like saying as vegetarians lets invite into our ranks those who ony have bacon sandwhiches every day for breakfast.
