Jeremy Corbyn is evil and his ideology if it were implemented would lead to tragedy, disaster, gulags etc but I do not believe for one nano second that he has a single anti semitic bone in his body. He may be a blind demagogue but even he is not so self un aware that he would take an illiberal intolerant racist position to any group or race as it would be inconsistent with his liberal values.
Let us confront his actual evil collectivist ideology, not manufacture evils he is not guilty of ! How perverse is that?
Why then have people got Corbyn so wrong on this? He is anti Zionist,not anti semitic. We are told there is no distinction any more but I think that is not so. The core of Corbyn's position is driven by his standard Left position of supporting and championing the under dog. When jews were being herded into gas chambers they were the underdog and the Left loved them -as victims. The minute they asserted themselves and became strong they were the bully and the Palestinians were the underdog and had to be championed. Now Israel is the enemy and the Israeli state is to be fought and critiqued mercillessly because of that shift in dynamics. Is this so hard to grasp and understand?
The moral composition of the Palestinian side, the fact that they are profoundly immoral and evil is immaterial to the Left. It's their underdog status that matters. They can kill, commit acts of terrorism -just as long as they are weaker and are always going to be the losing side the Left will champion them. If that means they acquire nukes in place of their David slings then so be it. Irrational you say? We are talking about the Left! (Hello)
Sometimes the underdog is immoral. Sometimes the poor are immoral. Try getting any leftist to concede that and you can then perhaps understand the motivation behind anti Zionism which some people for their own ulterior motives ie hatred of Corbyn are seeking to conflate with anti semitism.
It is perfectly ok to question the jewish state and zionism and even allowing anti semitic comments as it comes under free speech. I have seen Meine Kampf in Watersons !
For my part I think Israel is a necessary evil. If there was no anti semitism the State of Israel would not be necessary. Sadly history of a thousand years and counting illustrates that anti semitism exists and thus Israel exists. But I stress again Corbyn is no anti semite. Could I be wrong? Feel free to let me know although a friend assures me I am in fact writing into a vacuum!
