Italy's Blame-fest goes into super overdrive

When everyone is responsible for infrastructure in the mixed economy no one is! It's the ultimate get out of jail free card. The buck passing starts here. It was Brussels for its forbidding budget controls which prevented Italy from spending what was required to shore up its crumbling infrastructure.Or it was past Italian governments getting infrastructure on the cheap. Or it was the companies for the contracted out services who are to blame for cutting corners. Who killed cock  Robbin?

An unseemly mud slinging exercise is under way but the people are still dead lying under tons of rubble as the guilty players argue among themselves and the pm flailing around helplessly and over compensating, proclaims a state of of emergency lasting a whole year!

Italy has hardly ever never known anything other than corrupt rule and membership to the EU has merely institutionalised that state of affairs, entrenching it still further.. What it has never tried however is free market capitalism where no one can take the blame except the people who have sole ownership of it, ie, business, private capital free from political interference,'partnership' with government, quasi autonomy and all the other contradictory ambivalent excrescences and compromises inherent in  dysfunctional  mixed economy economy states.

What we see instead is corrupt politicians scapegoating the contractors and using them as a whipping boy for the sins of the mixed economy and no doubt using the latest bridge collapse debacle as an excuse to argue for yet more statism and more government controls with the weary predictably of a much seen 3rd rate b movie with the inevitable conclusion that All they need is a strong leader.....
